The Motorways Company of the Republic of Slovenia (DARS) today informed the Coordination Committee for the 3rd Development Axis about the progress of activities for the start of construction

A meeting of the Coordination Committee for the construction of the 3rd Development Axis was held today in Ravne. State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs mag. Nina Mauhler, Willie Zhurlan (DARS), ) dr. Matic Tasič (Chairman of the Board), and from the Youth Initiative for the 3rd Development Axis Aljaž Verhovnik and Andrej Grobelnik.

Construction would first begin on the route between Velenje and Slovenj Gradec, on “Lot D – Gaberke”, where a release is expected in the next days building permit. More problematic is the selection of a construction contractor for this section, as they have all complained to the State Audit Commission, which recently announced that it will extend the decision deadline, unofficially until the end of February 2020

When the first phase of the tender is completed, in which DARS recognizes the “ability to build” to the tenderers, the second phase of the tender will be decided, in which the price will be decisive. Therefore, all further decisions are in the hands of interested builders and the State Audit Commission.

Day D for the 3rd Development Axis is thus still uncertain, since the exact start of construction due to bureaucratic complications ( yet) cannot be predicted. Certain builders should be aware, however, that by complaining excessively, they will not only prolong the agony of waiting for the construction of the 3rd development axis, but will also be problematic for the expiry date of the already obtained environmental consent, which expires in June this year. “Day D” is therefore condemned to the mercy of the state bureaucracy and interested construction workers, the Youth Council of Ravne in Carinthia reported.

” Bureaucratic complications are also present in the spatial location of the route between Slovenj Gradec and Dravograd, since the Water Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia 2019 has not provided a professional starting point for the production of hydraulic hydrological studies, which underlies all subsequent activities. Therefore, delays in the preparation of spatial planning documents are delayed, and the Carinthians are trapped in a mill of bureaucrats who do not feel the daily traffic distress of this region, ” they added. The Youth Initiative for the 3rd Development Axis expects that despite all the bureaucratic complications, the first shovel on the route between Velenje and Slovenj Gradec will be opened this spring 2020. Therefore, he calls on everyone involved in the project to act proactively, as the fate of infrastructure development and the future of Carinthia is in their hands.

Carinthians WANT THE ROAD!
