Now that Mercedes will be working on offering some EV models of their own in the near future, there are now reports suggesting that the Smart brand might ultimately get chop by Mercedes-Benz.
According to Automobile Magazine, Renault could end the partnership when the ForFour and Twingo reach the end of their lifecycle and that Mercedes will end up killing off the Smart brand maybe by 2026.
However, that might not be the end of superminis for Mercedes as they could still decide to launch Mercedes-Benz superminis to take on models from Mini and Audi. Mercedes could do that by replacing the current MFA2 architecture on their A-Class with the MX1 platform and that we will be seeing a few different forms offered including three and five-door hatches.
It is still too early to decide the fate of these superminis now but would you be sad to see the Smart go?
