Mercedes-Benz USA might get in trouble over their way of issuing safety recall to their customers. According to the reports, US safety regulators are now investigating Mercedes-Benz USA as they suspect that the automakers might be taking too long to inform their customers and federal government about a safety recall notices.
NHTSA added that there were a few instances where the owners of the recalled models were not notified by Mercedes within the federally mandated 60-day window and that they “omitted critical information about the problem for which a recall decision was made or details about its recall plans,”
It was also claimed that Mercedes has failed to meet the performance requirements needed to support NHTSA in looking up vehicle’s identification numbers. Mercedes has since released a statement saying that they are making every effort to make sure their recalls and notifications are done in time and that they will be working closely with NHTSA on the matter.
